0 3 hours ago Full Job Description Elizabethtown College is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Director of Alumni Relations who will have the opportunity to imagine, develop and implement innovative strategies and programs that connect and engage the College's worldwide family of 20,000
alumni.
Working collaboratively with members of the Institutional Advancement Division, campus community and leadership groups of the Elizabethtown College Alumni Association, the Director of Alumni Relations will serve as a creative strategist and catalyst for regional- and interest-based programs and initiatives that inspire ever-increasing levels of alumni involvement and volunteerism.
The Director of Alumni Relations will also lead, mentor, and coach a dedicated staff, while serving as a key member of the Institutional Advancement Division's leadership team.
The Director of Alumni Relations is responsible for developing, coordinating, and executing initiatives that strategically engage Elizabethtown's 20,000
alumni in ways that foster an ever-increasing sense of loyalty toward, commitment to, pride in and support of Elizabethtown College and its mission.
Serving as an ambassador for the College, the Director of Alumni Relations is charged with:
Establishing and nurturing relationships with alumni that lead to graduates providing professional expertise, volunteer service, and philanthropic support; Collaborating with colleagues in academic, co-curricular, and administrative departments/offices (including, but not limited to Admissions, Athletics, Career Development, Development, Marketing and Communications, and Student Life) to create and maintain pathways for alumni engagement that advance the goals of the College; Partnering with colleagues in IA in ways that increase the identification, cultivation, and stewardship of donors; Facilitating and supporting all facets of the Elizabethtown College Alumni Association (ECAA); its endorsed benefit programs; and its advisory body, the Alumni Council; and its affiliated and ancillary organizations and programs, serving as the primary liaison between the ECAA/Alumni Council and the academic and administrative leadership of the College; and Leading the Office of Alumni Relations (OAR) operation and its staff members.
Job Duties ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Provides vision, leadership, and oversight to the OAR, the Alumni Council and its committees, and other partners and committees to plan and execute the vision and strategy of Elizabethtown College related to meaningful engagement for alumni with the College Engages alumni in the life of the College through consistent and positive communication using electronic, print, and social media; exceptional customer service; and meaningful opportunities for volunteerism, service, personal and professional development, and events and programs Directly supervises the OAR team, providing management, advice, support, and guidance of day-to-day operations Creates opportunities for interaction among Elizabethtown College staff, alumni, and potential donors and enhances the potential for giving by representing the College at various functions where there is a significant concentration of alumni and/or potential donors Continues to develop and manage an effective volunteer management system that supports the objective of engaging alumni in meaningful volunteer opportunities and serving as a source for alumni talent and resources for students, faculty, staff, and college-sponsored volunteer leadership groups Develops and maintains collaborative relationships and programs with on-campus units, including Admissions, Athletics, Career Development, Development, Marketing and Communications, Student Life, and academic schools and departments Imagines, develops, and manages signature alumni-related programs, such as Homecoming and Family Weekend, class- and affinity-based reunions, graduating senior days, signature regional events (e.
g.
presidential meet and greet events, etc.
) Develops and executes plans and activities for alumni affinity groups (academic, special interest, professional affiliations, etc.
), identifies and cultivates volunteer leadership, develops strategies for the success of each group, and supports their events and activities Identifies, launches, and manages programs that provide benefits and/or services to alumni and, in turn, cultivate involvement and generate income for ECAA programming Oversees the Jay Journeys alumni travel program in ways that promote and encourage involvement with the College Develops OAR annual strategic, budget, and operating plans, and manages annual program budget Facilitates a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills that engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds Remains competent and current through self-directed professional reading, developing professional contacts with colleagues, attending professional development activities, and attending training and/or courses as directed by the VPIA Contributes to the overall success of the OAR by working on special projects and performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the VPIA NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Represent the VPIA as necessary Conduct all responsibilities in a safe manner according to regulations (OSHA, EPA, etc.
) SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This position directly supervises the Assistant Director of Alumni Relations and the Alumni Relations Administrative Assistant This position is required to carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Elizabethtown College's policies and applicable laws.
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training, directing, rewarding, and disciplining individuals; appraising individual performance; and resolving complaints.
Required Qualifications A Bachelor's degree is required.
In addition, a minimum of five years of successful and progressively responsible alumni engagement or relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience, is required.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND/OR REGISTRATIONS This position requires a valid driver's license for business travel purposes (individual must have a US driver's license for at least three years).

OTHER SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND/OR TRAINING Excellent verbal and written communication capabilities Demonstrably strong planning, organizational, and decision-making skills Exceptional interpersonal skills and a genuine dedication to serving others The ability to work collaboratively and courteously with colleagues throughout the College, alumni, other constituents, and the public The demonstrated ability to strategize, implement and build constituency programs and activities, along with a talent for motivating volunteers Strong creative and marketing/brand management abilities Exceptional abilities to create and manage effective communication plans Flexibility and initiative, as well as the ability to work independently, combined with the skills for thriving in a team environment to achieve institutional goals High professional and ethical standards, especially related to the management of confidential information Ability to organize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously with close attention to detail and prioritization to meet deadlines Proficiency with computer software systems, including standard office production suites and electronic and print design applications Preferred Qualifications Master's degree; Demonstrated accomplishment in developing/evaluating volunteer leadership, fundraising, and communications is strongly preferred.
Experience in higher education is also preferred.
